The government approved the updates to the emergency plan for the security of natural gas supply in Romania. Adopted measures aimed to secure energy resources and support the population to get through the next winter, government spokesperson Mihai Constantin said.

The document is in accordance with European norms and was made based on consultations with the main players in the natural gas market in the country. Measures regarding the level of safety in the operation of the national energy system were analyzed and will be approved in the next meeting, and the objectives of the winter program are the evaluation of the electricity consumption between 1 November 2023 and 31 March 2024, to ensure it at parameters of quality and safety in supply, under the conditions of safe and stable operation of the national energy system.

For the first time since the Ministry of Energy developed the winter plan, the increasing influence that prosumers have on covering consumption at the national level is also taken into account.
