Romania, Electricity exports down 10% to 995 TWh in first two months

Final electricity consumption in Romania in the first two months of this year decreased by 1.8% compared to the same period last year, to 9,127 million MWh, according to data released by the National Institute of Statistics.

Industrial consumption was lower by 2.1%, while the population consumed 1.1% less electricity. At the same time, technological consumption in networks and stations increased by 1.2%.

Total electricity production decreased by 2.2%, while production in hydropower plants fell by 24.2%.

On the other hand, nuclear power production increased by 7%.

Renewable energy production in wind farms increased by 28% and in photovoltaic power plants by 27%.

Electricity imports decreased by 2.5% and exports by close to 10%, to 994.8 million MWh.

In the analyzed period, primary energy resources increased by 3.6%, and electricity sources decreased by 2.2% compared to the first two months of last year.

Natural gas production decreased by 6%, while imports increased by 16%. Imports of petroleum products also increased, by 38%.
