Romania: Decrease of average day-ahead OPCOM price in May

In May 2021, the average price of electricity on day-ahead market of the Romanian energy exchange OPCOM amounted to 58.74 euros/MWh, which is 136.33 % higher compared to the same month in 2020 and 6.46 % lower compared to the previous month, when average baseload price amounted to 62.8 euros/MWh. Traded volume in May reached 2.366 million MWh, which is 19.45 % more than in May 2020, and 2.94 % less than in April 2021. Average traded volume in May 2021 amounted to 3,180.9 MWh/h. The total value of transactions in May amounted to 141.51 million euros, which is by 183.02 % more compared to May last year (50 million euros) and 9.04 % less than in the previous month (155.57 million euros). The share of day-ahead market in forecasted net consumption in May 2021 amounted to 54.81 %. A total of 124,419.1 MWh was traded on intraday market in May (213.86 % more than in May 2020, and 25.35 % more compared to April 2021), with an average price of 60.24 euros/MWh (146.88 % higher compared to May 2020 and 9.41 % lower compared to the previous month). Total traded volume for bilateral contracts with delivery in May amounted to 1.291 million MWh, with an average price of 51.88 euros/MWh.
