Romania: Decrease in average day-ahead OPCOM price

Traded volume in April reached 1.930 million MWh, which is 10.44 % more than in April 2019, but 21.6 % less than in March 2020. The average price of electricity on day-ahead market of the Romanian energy exchange OPCOM amounted to 25.51 euros/MWh in April 2020, which is 43.41 % lower compared to the same month in 2019 and 14 % lower compared to the previous month, when average baseload price amounted to 29.66 euros/MWh. Average traded volume in April 2020 amounted to 2,680.5 MWh/h. The total value of transactions in April amounted to 49.71 million euros, which is by 39.53 % lower compared to April last year (82.21 million euros) and 33.69 % lower than in the previous month (74.97 million euros). The share of day-ahead market in forecasted net consumption in April 2020 amounted to 49.89 %. A total of 33,320.2 MWh was traded on intraday market in April (8.6 % more than in April 2019, but 40.07 % less compared to March 2020), with an average price of 24.25 euros/MWh. Total traded volume for bilateral contracts with delivery in April amounted to 1.354 million MWh, with an average price of 53.64 euros/MWh.
