Romania: Day-ahead power prices fall sharply in November as market volumes decline

The average price of electricity on the Romanian day-ahead market (OPCOM) reached 121.48 euros/MWh in November 2025, a decrease of 27.71 % compared to the same month in 2024 and 0.35 % lower than in October, when the average baseload price was 121.9 euros/MWh. Traded volume totaled 1.28 million MWh, marking a 19.42 % drop year-on-year and a 12.8 % decline from the previous month. The average hourly traded volume in November stood at 1,774.4 MWh/h.

The total value of transactions reached 160.3 million euros, which is 46.29 % lower than in November 2024 (298.3 million euros) and 13.19 % lower than in October (184.6 million euros). The share of the day-ahead market in forecasted net consumption for November 2024 amounted to 32 %.

On the intraday market, a total of 190,295.7 MWh was traded in November—23.5 % more than a year earlier and 13.98 % more than in October—at an average price of 125.66 euros/MWh, representing a 32.2 % decrease year-on-year and 0.52 % below the previous month.

Total traded volume under bilateral contracts with delivery in November amounted to 1.108 million MWh, with an average price of 104.9 euros/MWh.
