Romania: Average day-ahead price decreased to 87.1 euros/MWh in May

 

The average price on the day-ahead market of the energy exchange OPCOM decreased by 57% in May 2023 compared to the same month 2022, to 87.13 euros. That is also 11% lower compared to April (97.44 euros/MWh).

Traded volume in May reached 1.19 million MWh, 44% less than in May 2022 and 24% less than in April. The average traded volume in May 2023 amounted to 1,598.2 MWh/h.

The total value of transactions in May amounted to 105.4 million euros, 76% less compared to May last year and 30% less than in the previous month. The share of the day-ahead market in forecasted net consumption in May 2023 amounted to 30%.

A total of 114,366.3 MWh was traded on the intraday market in May, with an average price of 83.72 euros/MWh.
