Romania, 458m-euro tender for green energy projects announced

The Romanian Ministry of Energy announced that it had published a call for proposals for green energy projects worth a total of 457.7m euros, with EU co-financing under the National Recovery and Resilience (NRRP).

Applications for solar and wind projects can be submitted from March 31 to May 31, the ministry said in a press release on Wednesday.

The implementation of projects eligible for funding under this support scheme aims to increase the installed capacity for wind and solar power generation, with or without integrated storage, by approximately 950 MW, Energy Minister Virgil Popescu said.

The maximum support that can be awarded for one investment project cannot exceed 15 million euros.

For wind energy, the amount of state aid to be granted under the scheme is up to € 1.3 million per MW for installed capacity between 0.2 MW and 1 MW and € 650,000 per MW for installed capacity greater than 1 MW.

For solar energy, state aid amounts to € 750,000 per MW for installed capacity between 0.2 MW and 1 MW and € 425,000 per MW for installed capacity greater than 1 MW.

Energy projects will benefit from the distribution of a total of 1.62 billion euros under the NRRP.

Romania will be able to use 14.2 billion euros in grants and 14.9 billion euros in loans under the NRRP approved by the European Commission in September.
