Republic of Srpska: EFT received an environmental permit for a new surface mine

The Ministry of Spatial Planning, Construction and Ecology of the Republic of Srpska has issued an environmental permit for an open-pit mine for the exploitation of coal at the location of Ostružnja in the Municipality of Stanari to the company EFT – Mine and Thermal Power Station Stanari.

The area where coal exploitation is planned is located near the railway and the main road Doboj – Prnjavor, and covers an area of about 893.71 hectares.

The largest part of this area (876.15 hectares) is planned for the development of intensive mining activities, which relate to the opening and development of the Ostružnje surface mine with accompanying facilities and areas. Other areas covering 17.56 hectares are planned for the planned corridor for belt conveyors, roads for the transport of coal and overburden and the movement of mining vehicles and machinery.

The feasibility study for the Stanari lignite mine development, carried out by C&E Consulting and Engineering at the request of EFT Group, focused on a plan to mine 3.2 million tonnes of lignite.
