Region: Transmission capacity for exports to Ukraine and Moldova increased to 1.2 GW

The European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity increased the transmission capacity for electricity export to Ukraine and Moldova to 1,200 MW. The maximum available transmission capacity from Continental Europe to Ukraine and Moldova will increase by 150 MW.

Ukraian power utility Ukrenergo said in a statement that electricity imports from the EU are a significant source covering a potential electricity shortage in the electricity system. Together with operators of the European electricity system, Ukrenergo continues to work on gradually increasing the capacity of interconnectors available for commercial electricity exchanges between the EU and Ukraine/Moldova bloc.

Earlier, ENTSO-E decides to accommodate the gradual increase in electricity imports and exports. In April, ENTSO-E elevated the technical capability to export electricity from Europe to Ukraine and Moldova, reaching 1,050 MW. The technical capacity for exporting electricity from Ukraine/Moldova to Europe is 400 MW.
