In March 2025, electricity trading on North Macedonia’s day-ahead electricity exchange reached a total volume of 97,069.6 MWh. This represents a significant 44.9 percent increase compared to the 67,003.4 MWh recorded in March 2024, highlighting the continued development of the country’s electricity market.
Despite the year-on-year growth, the traded volume was 15.3 percent lower than in February 2025, indicating a short-term decline. The daily average trading volume for March stood at 3,131 MWh.
According to the electricity market operator MEMO, the average market-clearing price during the month was 104.21 euros per MWh, which is 34 percent lower than in the previous month. This price drop reflects broader market trends and seasonal factors affecting supply and demand.
North Macedonia’s electricity exchange was launched in May 2023, and it has been steadily expanding its role in the regional energy market.
