North Macedonia: Production of electricity in December

In December 2020 a total electricity consumption in North Macedonia amounted to 859,827 MWh, natural gas consumption amounted to 46.3 million cubic meters, coal consumption reached 468,414 tons, while the consumption of petroleum products stood at 92,211 tons. According to the data from State Statistical Office, 58 % of the consumed electricity in December was covered by domestic production, while 97.2 % of the total coal consumption was used for electricity production. Total net production of electricity in Macedonia in December 2020 stood at 465,817 MWh, which is by 5.5 % lower compared to the same month last year. 225,779 MWh or 48.7 % was produced at thermal power plants (- 19.7 % compared to December 2019), 68,265 MWh or 14.7 % was produced at hydropower plants (- 41.8 %), 159,415 MWh or 34.2 % in CHP plants and 6,720 MWh or 1.44 % was produced by Bogdanci wind farm. Total net production of electricity in Macedonia in 2020 stood at 5,032,758 MWh, which is 8.5 % lower compared to the previous year. 2,450,935 MWh or 48.7 % was produced at thermal power plants (- 24.3 % compared to 2019), 1,271,903 MWh or 25.3 % was produced at hydropowerplants (+ 10.1 %), 1,112,203 MWh or 22.1 % in CHP plants (+ 19.8 %) and 116,884 MWh or 2.32 % was produced by Bogdanci wind farm (+ 14.8 %).
