North Macedonia, Price of electricity for largest residential consumers will increase by up to 130 %

According to sources, following the introduction of block tariffs as of 1 July, the price of electricity for largest residential consumers will increase by up to 130 %.

The Energy Regulatory Commission (RKE) has drafted consumption limits within the four block tariffs for residential consumers: up to 210 kWh per month, between 210 and 630 kWh, between 630 and 1,050 kWh and above 1,050 kWh per month. Consumers in the first three block tariffs are expected to receive lower electricity bills by 12 to 15 %. However, those in the fourth block tariff will receive significantly higher bills.

The first three tariffs cover the majority of households, and in winter months, 98 % of the consumers will probably be in the third tariff. New block prices will be valid only during daily, expensive tariff, while the nightly, cheap tariff will remain the same for all consumers.
