North Macedonia: Oslomej solar power plant tender

The call was initially launched in February 2020, however it was unsuccessful. Only two bids were submitted (despite the interest of more than 40 companies), both of them deemed invalid. The deadline for the submission of bids for the relaunched public call is 12 March.

North Macedonian state-owned power utility ESM has relaunched a call for the participation in public-private partnership with state-owned power utility ESM on the construction of solar power plants in Oslomej with total installed capacity of 100 MW, a project worth some 80 million euros.

The partnership will have a duration of 35 years, during which the private investor will pay ESM an annual fee to ESM equal to 10 % of the revenues from the sale of electricity produced by the plant, at market prices. The project envisages the construction of two solar parks of 50 MW each in Oslomej, while all funds for the construction should be provided by the private partner. ESM will participate in the project with the land on which the solar parks will be built. After the 35-year term, the ownership of the solar parks will be transferred to ESM.

In 2019, ESM successfully held the tender for the construction of 10 MW solar power plant in Oslomej, a project partially funded by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). In November 2019, ESM and Turkish company Girisim Elektrik have signed an agreement on the construction of the solar power plant, which started in late 2020.
