North Macedonia, ESM will not allow significant rise in residential electricity prices

Director of North Macedonian state-owned power utility ESM Vasko Kovacevski said that the calculations for the price of electricity at which the company will sell it universal supplier EVN Home from 1 July to 31 December 2022 are currently being made, adding that ESM will not allow significant increase in price.

Kovacevski said that ESM currently analyzes the possibility of reducing production cost by 15 % and increasing the volume of production by 20 % at the same time. Maximum efforts are being made to provide additional quantities of electricity, despite the immoral practices of some municipalities and small companies, which switched from free market to regulated one, which is supposed to be reserved for residential consumers.

He said that, in the second half of the year, ESM is ready to supply enough electricity not only to EVN Home as an universal supplies, but also to EVN Distribution, electricity transmission system operator MEPSO for covering technical losses and even some companies coping with high prices on the free market.
