North Macedonia, Country could expect 80 million euros in EU’s energy crisis aid

The Government of North Macedonia announced that the European Union is expected to provide 80 million euros in aid to the state budget by the end of the year in order to help the country combat the effects of the ongoing energy crisis.

The statement from the Government said that these funds will be available for withdrawal in January next year.

President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen said, after her meeting with North Macedonian Prime Minister Dimitar Kovacevski, that the EU is putting forward an energy support package for the whole Western Balkan region. It begins with 80 million euro in grants for North Macedonia as immediate budget support, which will help the country address the impact of the high energy prices on its population and its economy.

PM Kovacevski added that the EU is also considering additional financial support and regional aid to stabilize the production of electricity.
