North Macedonia: Alcazar Energy begins construction of 400 MW wind farm

Alcazar Energy Partners, a renewable energy investment firm based in Luxembourg, has commenced construction on a 400 MW wind farm near the city of Stip in eastern North Macedonia. Once completed, the facility will provide clean electricity to more than 100,000 households, marking a major step in the country’s transition to renewable energy.

The project, valued at 500 million euros, is being financed through loan agreements with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group. The wind farm will span the municipalities of Stip, Radovis, and Karbinci, an area selected for its strong and consistent wind resources.

This initiative is part of Alcazar Energy’s broader 1.5 GW pipeline of greenfield wind and solar projects across the Western Balkans. By advancing these large-scale developments, the company seeks to support national governments in strengthening energy security and fulfilling their climate commitments.

The wind farm near Stip stands as a milestone in the region’s clean energy expansion and is expected to contribute significantly to reducing greenhouse gas emissions while providing long-term economic and environmental benefits.
