Montenegro plans four new solar projects totaling 127 MW

Investors in Montenegro are moving forward with plans to build four solar power plants with a total capacity of 127 MW, three of which will be located in Podgorica. The Montenegrin Government has issued urban planning and technical conditions for these projects, all proposed by private individuals.

The largest planned project, Bogetići, will have a capacity of 67 MW and will be developed in the municipality of Nikšić. The request for this project was submitted by TM Invest, a local company.

In Podgorica, three additional projects are in development:

  • Soluno – A 13.5 MW solar plant, proposed by the company Soluno.
  • KAP – A 33.75 MW facility, planned by Unipan Green.
  • KAP II – A 12.9 MW plant, also developed by Unipan Green.

Unipan Green is affiliated with Uniprom KAP, which owns the Podgorica aluminum plant.

Montenegro is experiencing rapid growth in solar energy projects. The electricity transmission system operator has signed multiple agreements for the construction of infrastructure to connect new solar plants to the network. Many other projects have already obtained urban planning and technical conditions or have submitted applications for environmental studies.
