Montenegro’s state-owned motorway operator, Monteput, has announced that the local company Permonte submitted the most favorable bid in the tender for conducting a technical and economic study on the use of solar panels along the planned Bar-Boljare motorway. This motorway, which will stretch 169 kilometers, is designed to connect Montenegro’s southern Adriatic coast with its northern border at Serbia.
The study, expected to cost around 25,000 euros excluding VAT, will evaluate the feasibility of integrating solar panels along the motorway’s route. Monteput shared this update at the end of last month. Alongside Permonte, two other companies—Greener and Jawel Crna Gora—also submitted offers for the project. The tender was originally launched in March, with the winning contractor given 90 days to complete the study.
The Bar-Boljare motorway project has made notable progress in recent years. In July 2022, Montenegro opened a 41-kilometer section between Smokovac and Matesevo, built by the China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC). This segment represents the first completed part of the motorway, which is part of the broader European transport Corridor XI.
