Montenegro: New solar power plant planned in Rudine, with 46.5 MW capacity

In Rudine, near Nikšić, Qair Montenegro has announced plans to build a new solar power plant and has submitted a request to the Environmental Protection Agency for a decision on the necessity of an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) study.

The proposed Rudine solar power plant will have an installed capacity of 46.5 MW and will feature the installation of 79,900 solar panels, covering an area of 202,777 square meters. Once operational, the facility is expected to produce approximately 73 GWh of electricity annually.

The power plant will function in “on-grid” mode, meaning it will only distribute electricity to the grid when the grid voltage is stable. In the event of a voltage drop, the power plant will automatically disconnect from the grid to ensure safety.

Qair Montenegro received urban and technical conditions for the construction of the solar power plant in September of last year. In addition, the same location will host another solar project, the Rudine Energy Park, which is backed by Swiss Green Energy Holding and will feature a much larger capacity of 186 MW.
