Montenegro: HPP Perucica power output enhancing tender

Based on the conducted analyzes, the installation of the eighth unit at HPP Perucica would result in additional production of up to about 50 GWh per year, while it will also be able to provide system services to the electricity system of Montenegro throughout the year. Montenegrin state-owned power utility EPCG has launched an international tender for the preparation of project documentation for the installation of the A8 unit at hydropower plant Perucica with an installed capacity of 58.5 MW. Financing has been provided by the German Development Bank (KfW), in accordance with whose procedures the tender is being conducted.

Executive Director of EPCG Igor Noveljic said that this is a continuation of large investments in HPP Perucica and reminded of the signing of a credit arrangement for the implementation of the project of reconstruction and modernization of HPP Perucica with KfW Bank worth 33 million euros. The installation of the eight unit would increase HPP’s installed capacity from 307 to 365.5 MW. The analyses performed by the consultant Lahmeyer International confirmed the financial feasibility and economic justification of the project. The signing of a contract on financing of this project worth 24 million euros with KfW Bank, as well as the selection of a supplier of equipment for the installation of the A8 unit, is planned for 2021.
