Montenegro’s state-owned power utility EPCG has requested that the Ministry of Spatial Planning, Urbanism and State Property issue the approval needed to begin preparatory works for the planned Krupac solar power plant near Nikšić.
The project, designated as infrastructure of public interest, is expected to become one of the most important new assets within the state-owned energy portfolio. In its request, EPCG cited legal provisions that permit preparatory activities ahead of the full construction permit, provided all prescribed conditions are met.
According to project documentation, the Krupac solar power plant will have an installed capacity of 41.8 MW, placing it among EPCG’s largest solar developments in the country.
The preparatory works would include excavation, terrain leveling and soil compaction to reach the required elevation—activities deemed essential for enabling subsequent construction phases, local media report.
