Montenegro: Energy 2 cleared to build Sinjajevina I wind farm

Montenegrin company Energy 2 has received approval to start construction of the Sinjajevina I wind farm in Lipovska Bistrica near Kolasin. The Environmental Protection Agency accepted the project’s environmental impact assessment, confirming it meets legal requirements and includes measures to limit potential harm to nature.

The project covers about 279 hectares and foresees 17 wind turbines with a total capacity of 112.2 MW. Earlier, the government issued urban planning and technical conditions to allow project preparation. In September 2023, the Ministry of Finance launched a tender to lease over 1.5 million square meters of land in Lipovska Bistrica for 30 years, with a starting annual rent of 539,000 euros.

Each turbine will have up to 7 MW of installed capacity. Energy 2 had already shown interest in the site and in March requested a long-term lease of land in Mojkovac and Kolasin to invest in the development of Sinjajevina I.
