Montenegro: Electricity distribution network reconstruction

The first phase of the reconstruction of distribution network in rural areas, a project with total cost of 50 million euros was successfully completed by Montenegrin electricity distribution system operator CEDIS.

The statement from the company said that it invested some 14 million euros in the first phase of the project, which included the reconstruction of 420 kilometers of low-voltage transmission lines and 210 substation, as well as the replacement of some 4,000 electricity poles.

CEDIS Director Ivan Brajovic said that the second stage envisages the reconstruction of 370 kilometers of 10 kV transmission lines, with planned replacement of 4,200 poles.

The project was launched last March. In late 2018, CEDIS signed a contract worth 22.4 million euros for the overhaul of its low and mid-voltage electricity network. The contract was signed with a consortium of local companies Mezon, Electro Team and Ramel and should take up to 24 months to be completed.
