Montenegro: Agreement on connection of solar power plant Montečevo signed

The contract for the connection of the solar power plant Montečevo (Montechevo) with a total installed power of up to 400 MW to the transmission system was signed last week in Podgorica. It is an investment whose value exceeds EUR 350 million. It will be carried out by the company Sun Horizon, which operates within the CWP Europe group, one of the leading companies in the field of development of renewable energy production projects in this part of Europe.

The power plant will be built in the municipalities of Lastva, Čevo and Prentin in Cetinje.

CGES has announced that for the purpose of connecting this power plant, one of the largest solar facilities in the Balkans, a 400 kV Cevo substation will be built. This station will accommodate all 400 kV transmission lines, including Lastva – Trebinje, Lastva – Pljevlja, and Lastva – Podgorica. In addition to the increased connection capacity that the network will be able to handle, this technical solution also provides better performance for the transmission system, as it eliminates the possibility of simultaneous outage of the 400 kV transmission lines to Trebinje and Pljevlja. The contract defines a dynamic plan that envisions the Montecevo solar power plant and the Cevo substation being built by the end of 2027.
