Dutch-based solar developer Photon Energy has expanded its presence in Hungary by commissioning three new solar power plants under a merchant model.
Located in Tolna County, central Hungary, the new installations have a combined capacity of 5.1 MW, bringing Photon Energy’s total operational solar capacity in the country to 57.5 MW. The company’s global portfolio now stands at 134.7 MW.
The newly commissioned plants—Tolna 2, Tolna 3, and Tolna 5—are expected to generate approximately 6.3 GWh of electricity annually. They are equipped with bifacial monocrystalline modules and are already supplying power to the network operated by E.ON.
By positioning the three sites close together, Photon Energy aims to analyze and compare investment and operational costs while assessing the value of their electricity production profiles in the market.
