Day-ahead electricity prices in Hungary fell in the last week of March and rose in the first week of April in response to higher demand. In Hungary, day-ahead base averaged 106 euros/MWh in the week ending April 2 and 126 euros/MWh in next week. Prices in Romania averaged 7-9 euros/MWh lower.
Forward power prices fell initially but jumped slightly upon the switch to May and Q3 contracts. In Hungary, month-ahead base ended April 6 at 122 euros/MWh and quarter-ahead base at 145 euros/MWh. Prices in Romania were 4-5 euros/MWh lower.
