Hungary, Day-ahead gas price 140 euros per MWh on Friday

The weighted average day-ahead gas price on the regional gas market, the Hungarian CEEGEX exchange, for delivery on Friday, December 9, 2022, increased by EUR 10 per MWh compared to Thursday, to EUR 140 per MWh. Trade volume reached 103,704 MWh on Friday, according to data from the stock exchange operator.

The average weekly day-ahead price is around 126 euros per MWh.

In the first nine days of December, the average weighted price of gas did not fall below the threshold of 121 euros per MWh, while in the previous month, the minimum price of around 79 euros per MWh was recorded.

The average weighted price during the day, for delivery in one-hour intervals, on December 8 was 140-141 euros per MWh.

According to the latest available CEEGEX report, for October 2022, European gas prices fell to a four-month low thanks to warm weather, stable supply and low demand, and TTF spot prices were even negative.

The total volume on CCEGEX in October of 2.97 GWh, almost reached last year’s level.

Trading in the spot markets was more profitable than securing the required quantities with long-term contracts, according to the CEEGEX monthly report.
