Hungary, Average price on HUPX DAM 149 euros per MWh in January

The average price of electricity for base load on the Hungarian day-ahead market in January 2022 decreased by 43 percent compared to the previous month, to 148.69 euros per MWh, from 261.15 euros per MWh in December, according to the operator’s monthly report stock exchange HUPX.

In the same period, the price for peak load was reduced by 45 percent, from 315.83 euros per MWh to 174.67 euros per MWh.

The total volume of trade on HUPX DAM in January increased compared to December by 21 percent, from 1.944 million MWh to 2.35 million MWh. The average daily trade volume increased by 28 percent in January, from 62,713 MWh to 75,830 MWh.

The intraday trading volume on the market increased by 26 percent on a monthly basis, from 326,055 MWh to 410,640 MWh.

The hourly price and the price for the 15-minute settlement fell by 40 percent and 46 percent respectively in January compared to the previous month, to 161.27 euros per MWh and 138.07 euros per MWh, respectively. The block price was reduced by 48 percent, to 194.4 euros per MWh, according to HUPX’s monthly report.
