The Greek Government has launched a new support scheme targeting the installation of small-scale solar systems and battery storage in the residential and agricultural segments.
Minister of Energy Kostas Skrekas announced that the program will enable households and farmers to install up to 10.8 kW of solar capacity and 10.8 kWh of battery storage. While batteries are a required component for residential owners, farmers will have the option to install only solar panels.
The Government allocated 200 million euros for financing this scheme. The scheme will be backed with funding from Greek Recovery and Resilience Facility.
Households will be able to cover up to 75Â of the costs needed for the installation of rooftop solar panels, while farmers will receive funding for up to 60%. The individual subsidy to be granted can be a maximum of 16,000 euros for households and 10,000 euros for farmers.
Beneficiaries of the scheme could lower their electricity costs by up to 3,000 euros per year, according to the Ministry’s estimate, The financial support will depend on the income level of the applicants. Some 35 million euros of the total amount is earmarked for projects by vulnerable households.
