Greece, Revenues from the first CO2 emission 1.3 billion euros

Revenues from auctions of CO2 emission rights in Greece reached 1.329 billion euros in 2022, which is about 30% more than the previous year, when they totaled 1.014 billion euros.

DAPEEP, the renewable energy market operator, recently completed the allocation of the annual amount based on the corresponding ministerial decision.

Of this amount, 1.025 billion euros were allocated to the Energy Transition Fund. On the other hand, 3.8% of the total sum, ie 50 million euros, should be paid into the special account for RES.

About 11% of the annual revenue from carbon dioxide emission rights is allocated to help companies active in sectors exposed to significant risk as a result of CO2 “leakage”.

The Green Fund was allocated a 4.5% share for financing sustainable economic activities with low CO2 emissions and low environmental impact.

A share of 1.5% of the proceeds from the auctions will be used to finance initiatives that promote the electromobility sector, while 0.6% is intended for the Agency for the Natural Environment and Climate Change.
