Greece, PPC Renewables is planning to launch two tenders for wind and solar power plants

PPC Renewables, the renewables arm of Greek Public Power Corporation, is planning to launch two tenders for wind and solar power plants with a combined capacity of 570 MW in the first quarter of the year.

The first tender is related to the construction of a 500 MW solar power plant at the site of a coalfired power complex in Ptolemaida in Western Macedonia, while the second envisages the construction of 70 MW wind farm in northern Greece.

Last year, PPC Renewables said it plans to hold tenders for the two abovementioned projects, as well as for 700 MW of energy storage capacity and 1,500 MW worth of renewable energy projects in Ptolemais, Amyntaio, Megalopoli, all sites of PPC’s lignite-fired power plants. It was said that these tenders will be held within 24-30 months.

As part of its 2022-2026 business plan, PPC aims to increase its installed renewables capacity to 7.2 GW by 2024 and 9.5 GW by 2026, along with coal phase-out. The goal should be reached with planned investments of 9.3 billion euros.
