Greece, Number of household consumers leaving PPC is still decreasing

According to data published by Greek electricity distribution system operator DEDDIE, the number of household consumers leaving Public Power Corporation (PPC) continues to decrease. In the fourth quarter of 2021, a total of 37,000 low- voltage customers have left the company, compared to 47,000 in the previous quarter.

The trend of decreasing number of departing customers in the low-voltage category, started last year with the beginning of the energy crisis, mostly due to the fact that PPC offers numerous discounts for its customers.

During the second quarter of 2021, PPC lost 70,000 low-voltage customers, while the company’s customer loss in the first quarter was approximately 100,000.

As a result, independent electricity suppliers attracted lower number of new customers in 2021. They attracted a total of 67,500 low-voltage customers in the third quarter of 2021, down from 85,000 in the second quarter and 103,000 in the first quarter.

PPC’s low-voltage customers totaled 5.02 million at the end of 2021, down from 5.06 million at the end of the third quarter. Independent suppliers had 1.66 million low-voltage customers at the end of 2021, up from 1.61 million at the end of the third quarter.
