Greece: Lightsource BP secured financing for 560 MWp solar park

Solar developer Lightsource bp has signed a 315.3-million-euro financing agreement for its 560 MWp solar park Enipeas in Greece, which is one largest solar projects in Europe.

The financing is led by Eurobank AE and includes 145.3 million euros provided by the bank and 170 million euros coming from the EU’s Recovery and Resilience Fund as part of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan Greece 2.0.

The project represents a total investment of 395.2 million euros, the remaining 20% of which, or 79.8 million euros, will be covered by the company’s own funds.

The Enipeas solar project, located in Larissa and Fthiotida, will consist of a 400-MWp southern cluster and a 160-MWp northern cluster. It is expected to be completed and connected to the grid in 2026. In the first year of operation, the project is expected to produce 0.9 TWh, enough to power 225,000 households, meeting almost 2% of domestic production, the developer estimates.

Since it entered the Greek market in 2020, Lightsource BP says it has developed a portfolio of solar and storage projects surpassing 1 GW.
