Greece: Latest RES auction got lower prices

Among successful bidders at the latest auction is PPC Renewables, with its 11 MW solar power plant, part of a larger 50 MW solar project in Megalopoli.

Bids for wind capacity at a RES auction held on 27 July dropped to 55.67 euros/MWh, while those in solar category dropped to 49.81 euros/MWh. At the end, capacity of about 10 MW was left over in the wind category, while the entire offered capacity in solar category was taken up.

A total of 52 projects representing an overall capacity of 199.43 MW took part in a category for solar projects of up to 20 MW. A total of 142.45 MW was offered in this category. Second auction, for wind energy projects of up to 50 MW, drew 25 projects representing a total capacity of 748.37 MW, while 481.45 MW were offered.

Achieved prices are lower compared to 59.98 and 55.77 euros/MWh, respectively, achieved at the auction back in December. The one held in April was mixed auction and its resulted in an average fixed price of 52.02 euros/MWh.
