European solar and wind energy production trends: March 24-31 insights

During the week of March 24, solar photovoltaic energy production saw significant increases in the Iberian Peninsula. In Portugal, production rose by 63%, while in Spain, it increased by 52%, reversing the declines of the previous week. However, in Germany, France, and Italy, solar energy production declined, with France seeing a 7.8% drop and Germany experiencing a larger fall of 29%.

Looking ahead to the week of March 31, AleaSoft Energy Forecasting projects an increase in solar energy production in Germany, while a decrease is expected in both Spain and Italy.

As for wind energy, production declined across the main European markets during the week of March 24, reversing the upward trend seen the previous week. Portugal and France experienced the largest decreases, with drops of 60% and 43%, respectively. Meanwhile, Germany and Italy saw smaller declines, with reductions of 12% and 8.8%, respectively.

For the week of March 31, AleaSoft Energy Forecasting anticipates an increase in wind energy production in Germany and France. However, the downward trend will persist in the Iberian Peninsula and Italy, AleaSoft reports.
