Europe: Solar energy production trends: Record-breaking outputs and market shifts in early August

In the week of August 5, solar energy production showed a positive trend across most major European electricity markets, with notable increases in several countries. Portugal saw the most significant growth at 5.6%, bouncing back from the previous week’s decline. Italy had the smallest rise, with a 1.2% increase, marking the second consecutive week of minimal growth. Germany was the exception, where solar production decreased by 0.9%.

France set a new all-time record for daily solar photovoltaic energy production on August 5, generating 129 GWh. In Germany, despite the overall weekly decline, the country achieved its highest daily solar energy production for August on August 6, with 386 GWh. Italy also reached a milestone on August 9, producing 126 GWh, the highest daily solar output for the month.

Looking ahead, forecasts from AleaSoft Energy Forecasting for the week of August 12 indicate that solar energy production will increase in Germany but decrease in Italy and Spain, according to AleaSoft.
