Croatia, Zito Group and E.ON Solar have signed a contract for the construction of a 2 MW solar power plant

Croatian food producer Zito Group and E.ON Solar have signed a contract for the construction of a 2 MW solar power plant within the company’s vegetable oil factory in Cepin.

The statement from Zito Group said that the new power plant will generate some 2.6 GWh of electricity per year and should be commissioned by the end of June. It would be the eight solar power plant that Zito Group operates, but the largest by far, since the installed capacity of seven operational plants amounts to 2.3 MW.

Besides solar power plants, Zito Group operates several biogas power plants using waste from its farms, producing a total of 43 GWh of electricity per year, which exceeds the Group’s total electricity consumption. The Group expects that its electricity generation would be twice as high as its consumption by the end of 2025.

E.ON Solar is a part of E.ON’s local subsidiary E.ON Croatia.
