Croatia: Vucipolje wind farm to be built by the German company

Vucipolje wind farm will be located in Gracac municipality. German renewable energy company wpd and local company Tekol Teri have established a joint venture company for the purpose of the construction of a 120 MW wind farm.

The new wind farm would be a part of larger cross-border project stretching on both territories of Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH). Last year, wpd said that it plans to invest 1.5 billion euros in the construction of wind farms with combined installed capacity of 1.2 GW. The plan is to build wind farms with total output of 900 MW in BiH and 300 MW in Croatia. The construction should start in three to four years and are expected to be completed by 2030.

This is not the first cooperation between the two companies. In 2019, they also established a joint venture company VE Krmpote for the purpose of the construction of wind farm of the same name near Novi Vinodolski, a project worth 120 million euros. The Krmpote wind farm will have an installed capacity of up to 90 MW and will stretch over an area of 27 square kilometers, with expected annual generation of 250,000 MWh, which will significantly contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, dependency on electricity imports, and the transition to a low-carbon economy.

Wpd already operates four wind farms in Croatia through its local subsidiary: two near Sibenik, one on the Peljesac peninsula and one near Sestanovac, with a total capacity of 100 MW.
