Croatia: New premium model of RES auction

A public call for participation in an auction for the award of premiums and a guaranteed purchase price for electricity produced from renewable sources was announced by Croatian energy market operator HROTE.

The public call aims to assess the interest of companies to participate in an auction for the award of market premium and guaranteed purchase price within the available quotas to encourage electricity production from RES and high-efficiency cogeneration, all in accordance with the RES quota regulation adopted by the former Government. The deadline for expressing interest is two months (until 29 September), after which the launch of the auction will follow. The quotas that will be offered at the auction are as follows: 50 MW in solar power plants with installed capacity between 50 and 500 kW, 4 MW in small hydropower plants with installed capacity less than 50 kW and 5 MW in small hydropower plants with installed capacity from 50 to 500 kW, 6 MW in biomass power plants with installed capacity from 50 to 500 kW and 7MW in biogas power plants with installed capacity from 50 to 500 kW.

The maximum guaranteed purchase price of electricity ranges from 0.084 euros/kWh for solar power plants to 0.178 euros/kWh for biomass power plants.
