Croatia: January electricity production

Net electricity production in Croatia in January 2021 amounted to 1,786 GWh, which is 50 % higher compared to January last year, when the production amounted to 1,190 GWh, according to short-term indicators of energy statistics published by Croatian Bureau of Statistics.

During January, 1,037 GWh of electricity or 58.1 % was produced in hydropower plants, 466 GWh or 26.1 % was produced in thermal power plants, while wind farms produced 232 GWh or 13 % of total produced electricity. During this period, Croatia imported 988 GWh of electricity, 7.6 % more compared to last January (690 GWh), while electricity exports stood at 1,131 GWh, almost three times more than in January 2020 (413 GWh). Regarding hydrocarbon production, Croatia produced 70 million cubic meters of natural gas in January 2021, 7 % more compared to January last year. Natural gas imports stood at 180 million cubic meters, 2.2 % less than in January 2020. Crude oil production stood at 48,000 tons, which is 7.7 % lower compared to the same month last year. Production of petroleum products stood at just 10,000 tons in January 2021, compared to 30,000 tons in the same month last year.
