Croatia: JANAF boosts renewable energy portfolio with new Vodjinci solar power plant

The Croatian state-owned oil transportation company JANAF has successfully commissioned and connected its Vodjinci solar power plant to the national grid. With this new addition, JANAF now covers 86 percent of its electricity needs using its own renewable energy sources.

The Vodjinci plant received its operational permit and was completed according to schedule. JANAF acquired the project during its development phase and carried out the construction independently. By bringing the facility into full operation within the planned timeframe, the company has demonstrated its strong commitment to environmental sustainability and the green energy transition.

The solar power plant is composed of 25,740 photovoltaic modules spread across 175,901 square meters, and has a connection capacity of 10 megawatts. This project marks a continuation of JANAF’s broader renewable energy strategy, following previous installations at its terminals and the acquisition of the Bulinec solar project.

JANAF’s latest investment not only reduces the company’s carbon footprint but also enhances the reliability of the energy supply for its critical infrastructure. Looking ahead, JANAF plans to further expand its renewable energy capacities and enter the electricity market, signaling a strategic shift from a traditional oil transport company to a more diversified, sustainable energy enterprise.
