Croatian oil company INA has commenced production at its Jamarice-183 well, located in the Jamarice exploitation field around 100 kilometers southeast of Zagreb. Since mid-July, the well has been producing approximately 33,500 cubic meters of natural gas per day, representing a notable boost to INA’s upstream operations.
Drilled in 2022 to a depth of 2,079 meters, the well is currently focused on natural gas extraction. Once this phase is complete, it will be repurposed for oil production from deeper underground formations. Bringing the well online involved significant infrastructure work, including the installation of a 2,500-meter gas pipeline and power cables to connect the site to the regional grid.
The project progressed rapidly, moving from permitting to full operation in just over two months. INA received the construction permit on 28 April, began on-site work on 7 May, and achieved first gas output by 15 July—about six weeks ahead of the planned schedule.
Josip Bubnic, INA’s operational director for oil and gas exploration and production, credited the fast-tracked timeline to effective coordination between INA’s internal teams and the contractor STSI. He also highlighted the efficient permitting process as a positive example for future energy development projects.
