Croatia, Government is planning to ban export of domestically produced natural gas

Croatian Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Davor Filipovic said that the Government is planning to ban export of domestically produced natural gas.

He said that it is unacceptable that Croatian institutions are paying the highest gas prices, while any other companies pay much lower prices. INA has planned to produce 703 million cubic meters of gas in Croatia in 2022 and the Government will order the company to sell all gas extracted in Croatia to Croatian households, companies and institutions.

Hungarian oil and gas company MOL is the largest shareholder in INA with a 49.08 % stake, followed by the Croatian Government with 44.84 %. The Croatian Government is still in dispute with MOL over the management rights in INA. In late 2016, the Government announced that it will buy back MOL’s stake in INA, but the two sides were unable to agree on the price.
