Croatia, A total volume of 569,588.1 MWh of electricity was traded on the CROPEX in February

A total volume of 569,588.1 MWh of electricity was traded on the Croatian energy exchange CROPEX in February 2023, which is 29.1 % less than in January, of which 481,899.7 MWh on the day-ahead market and 87,688.4 MWh on the intraday market. Traded volume in February 2023 was 36.5 % higher compared to the same month last year.

Average daily base price on day-ahead market in February amounted to 145.19 euros/MWh, which is 6.1 % higher than in the previous month, while average euro-peak price reached 153.86 euros/ MWh, 7.2 % lower compared to the previous month. The average price on the intraday market was 141.14 euros/MWh, 2.6 % lower compared to January.

There are 27 participants on CROPEX day-ahead market (one more compared to the previous month), twenty four of which have been active on the intraday market as well. Average daily traded volume on the day-ahead market in February amounted to 17,210.7 MWh.

CROPEX was launched on 11 March 2016 in cooperation with Nord Pool, Europe’s leading electricity exchange, and is co-owned by the Croatian electricity transmission system operator (HOPS) and the Croatian electricity market operator (HROTE). Intraday market was launched in April 2017. On 19 June 2018, after joint project of Croatian and Slovenian transmission system operators and power exchanges, CROPEX day ahead market was successfully coupled with MRC markets through Croatian – Slovenian border.
