Croatia: 1,287 GWh traded on CROPEX in July

In July 2024, the Croatian energy exchange, CROPEX, recorded a total electricity trading volume of 1,287,200.2 MWh, representing a 32.4% increase compared to June. Of this, 1,183,405.5 MWh was traded on the day-ahead market, while 103,794.7 MWh was traded on the intraday market. The total traded volume in July was 77.3% higher compared to the same month in the previous year.

The average daily base price on the day-ahead market in July was 106.06 euros/MWh, a 9.6% increase from June, while the average euro-peak price reached 90.43 euros/MWh, up by 13.3%. On the intraday market, the average price was 110.09 euros/MWh, reflecting a 17.6% increase from the previous month. CROPEX had 31 participants in the day-ahead market, the same as in June, with 26 of them also active in the intraday market. The average daily traded volume on the day-ahead market in July was 38,174.4 MWh.

CROPEX, which was launched in March 2016 in cooperation with Nord Pool, is co-owned by the Croatian electricity transmission system operator (HOPS) and the Croatian electricity market operator (HROTE). The intraday market was introduced in April 2017. Additionally, on 19 June 2018, CROPEX’s day-ahead market was successfully coupled with the Multi-Regional Coupling (MRC) markets through the Croatian-Slovenian border.
