Bulgaria: Renalfa IPP launches first 69 MW of Tenevo solar complex

Renalfa IPP has commissioned the first 69 MW of the 238 MW Tenevo solar complex in southeastern Bulgaria, along with all necessary assets for connection to the national 400 kV transmission network.

The project, developed by Tenevo Solar Technologies, pairs the solar field with a 315 MW/760 MWh battery storage system that is currently under construction. The second phase of the solar plant is scheduled to begin operations in early 2026.

Once fully operational, the complex is expected to generate over 300 GWh of electricity annually and prevent approximately 250,000 tons of carbon emissions each year. Project financing includes 103 million euros from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and Raiffeisen Bank International. Tenevo Solar Technologies is a joint venture between Danish Eurowind Energy and Renalfa IPP, itself a joint venture of the Vienna-based Renalfa Solarpro Group and the French renewables infrastructure fund RGreen Invest.
