Bulgaria: Produced electricity in May

Production of electricity in May 2020 decreased by 10.8 % compared to April, to 2,734 GWh, while consumption of electricity dropped by 9.1 % on monthly basis and amounted to 2,344 GWh, according to Bulgarian National Statistical Institute. Consumption of natural gas in May 2020 decreased by 20.3 % and amounted to 185 million cubic meters, while its production remained the same and amounted to 4 million cubic meters.

Compared to May 2019, production of electricity decreased by 9.8 %, while its consumption fell by 8 %. Consumption of natural gas decreased by 9.3 % compared to May 2019. In May, production of unleaded petrol decreased by 40.6 % and amounted to 63,000 tons, while its consumption increased by 87 % and amounted to 43,000 tons. Production of diesel in May decreased by 41.1 % compared to the previous month and amounted to 132,000 tons, while its consumption rose by 41.7 % and amounted to 163,000 tons. Consumption of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) increased by 100 % and amounted to 36,000 tons, while its production remained approximately the same and amounted to 5,000 tons. At the same period, production of solid fuels decreased by 31.6 % to 1,227 thousand tons, while consumption of this energy resource also dropped by 30.6 % to 1,286 thousand tons.
