Bulgaria: KEVR approved higher electricity prices

Bulgarian Commission for Energy and Water Regulation approved an average increase of 4.4% in the electricity price for household consumers. Electrohold prices will rise by 4.4%, EVN prices will rise by 3.8% and Energo Pro by 5.4%. Network transmission fees are included.

Prices will be applied from July 1 and are set for 12 months.

Under initial projections, the electricity price was to go up by 3.6%, but the decision was reviewed after an order by the Minister of Energy which adjusted quotas of state-owned electricity generating facilities on the regulated market.

The energy mix for household consumers included 2.2 TWh of electricity, generated by TPP Maritsa East 2 in order to avoid financial troubles for the facility. KEVR said that by applying regulatory mechanisms the increase in the price of electricity is nearly four times lower than the rate of inflation.
