Bulgaria: IBEX reports slight decline in April 2025 day-ahead trading volume

In April 2025, a total of 2,306,921.9 MWh of electricity was traded on the day-ahead market of the Independent Bulgarian Energy Exchange (IBEX), representing a 3.7 percent decrease compared to the previous month. Despite the decline, the traded volume was 6 percent higher than in April 2024. The average daily traded volume during the month was 76,897.4 MWh.

The average baseload price on the day-ahead market in April was 84.95 euros per megawatt-hour, a drop of 18.6 percent compared to March, when the average was 104.4 euros per megawatt-hour. The average peak price fell even more sharply, to 61.18 euros per megawatt-hour, down 33.7 percent.

There were 130 registered participants on the IBEX day-ahead market in April, two more than in the previous month.

On the intraday continuous market, a total of 402,052.2 MWh was traded, reflecting a 2 percent increase. The average weighted price on this market was 75.8 euros per megawatt-hour, a 25 percent decrease compared to the previous month.
