Bulgaria: Electricity trading on IBEX sees increased prices and record intraday volume in November 2024

In November 2024, a total of 2,368,531.1 MWh of electricity was traded on the day-ahead market of the Independent Bulgarian Energy Exchange (IBEX), marking a 2.1% decrease compared to the previous month. The average daily traded volume during November was 78,951 MWh. However, compared to November 2023, the traded volume was 0.4% higher.

The average baseload price on the day-ahead market for November was 167.75 euros/MWh, reflecting a significant 87.7% increase from October’s price of 89.36 euros/MWh. Meanwhile, the average peak price rose to 209.08 euros/MWh, a 121.8% increase. The IBEX day-ahead market had 124 registered participants in November, which is one more than the previous month.

On the intraday continuous market, a total of 330,180 MWh was traded, a 28% increase compared to October. The average weighted price on this market reached 187.47 euros/MWh, representing a 110.4% rise. November’s intraday volume was the highest recorded for a single month.
